Living Waters Pond and Garden Center
For people who own homes with a large backyard, it often becomes the focus place for family relaxation. Particularly for those who live in the warmer southern climates, entertaining in the back yard becomes a year-round attraction. Having one pond or more filled with beautiful fish is a great way to liven up the home environment.
Koi fish are quite popular pond fish and are easy to care for, plus the smaller goldfish have long been a pond favorite. Goldfish are quite resilient in any kind of water, ideal for those getting their first pond. There are several exotic multi-colored goldfish to choose from.
There is no limit to the design shapes and features that can built into ponds. Ponds can be surrounded by rocks, have a fountain built in to the side or middle, pieces of shiny colored tile or marble around the edge of the pond. A combination of fountain flowing through rocks into the pond for a bubbling brook effect is another option. Any kind of vegetation arrangement can be planted around the pond, including many plants that require minimal care.
During cold weather, it is important that a hole remains open on the pond if icing is a problem. The level of pond oxygenation is critical to keep fish healthy. A hole allows gas caused by dying organic matter to leave the pond. A floating de-icer can also be used.
